Thank you for choosing Permanently Perfect Makeup! The following is provided to help ensure your safety and satisfaction during your permanent cosmetics procedures. Please keep this information handy and refer to it as needed. We as permanent makeup artists do our half, now you must do your half and follow proper pre and post care directions for best results. Please feel free to call, text, or email with any questions or concerns.
You may take an antihistamine such a Benadryl prior to your procedure to help prevent and reduce swelling.
Bring with you your favorite lipstick, eyeliner, eyebrow, and lip pencils so we can do our best to match up the colors.
Prior to an EYEBROW procedure: have your eyebrows shaped(waxed, tweezed, or threaded) to the shape you like/want them.
If you have ever had a fever blister or cold sore, take your anti-viral meds before any LIP procedure as it could provoke a cold sore outbreak.
Must be off of Accutane for at least 1 year prior to any permanent cosmetic procedure.
No Latisse, Revitalash, or Lash Boost for 2 weeks prior to an EYELINER procedure as it increases the risk of bleeding and bruising.
Prior to EYELINER procedures: NO lash extensions, makeup on your eyes(eyeliner, eye shadow, or mascara)
If you are having an EYELINER procedure done you should have someone on standby you could call to drive you home from the appointment in case your eyes are temporarily sensitive after the procedure.
No contacts for 24-48 hours post EYELINER procedures. Please wear or bring glasses.
Prior to LIP procedures, if you have ever had a fever blister or cold sore, take an antiviral medication pre and post procedure to prevent an outbreak of cold sores.
If you have had Botox or facial fillers in the procedure area you will need to wait 2 weeks before any permanent cosmetic procedures.
Most procedures take approximately 2 hours which allows time to consult, choose shape, mix custom colors, numb the procedure area, and take before and after photos.
Most procedures will require a touch up for which there is a fee and can be scheduled 6-12 weeks or later after the initial procedure.
If you are under a physician’s care you must obtain a release from them prior to your procedure.
On the day of the procedure, do not get the area wet for the remainder of the day.
Upon rising the morning after the procedure, you may gently rinse procedure area with cool water and gentle cleanser to wash away and dried blood and lymph. Pat dry. Do NOT rub or scrub.
Do not touch the procedure area(s) with your fingers as they may have bacteria on them and create an infection
Apply a THIN layer of A&D ointment 2-4 times daily starting the day after your procedure for 3 days. Always use a clean cotton swab and not your fingertips. Dab off excess ointment with a tissue. Overuse of the ointment will not let the area heal properly.
No make-up, tinting of lashes or brows, sun, soap, sauna, steam, hot yoga, jacuzzi, swimming in chlorinated pools or in the ocean for 7-10 days (until area is completely healed) post procedure and after all color refreshers.
Shower with back to water to avoid water and soap getting into the procedure area.
Do rub or traumatize the procedure area while it is healing as pigment may be removed along with crusting tissue.
Use a sun block after the procedure area has healed to prevent future fading of pigment.
Sleep on a clean pillowcase while the procedure area is healing and try to sleep on your back so that any scabbing on the procedure area does not rub off and result in loss of pigment in spots.
If you are a blood donor, you may not give blood for 1 year following your permanent cosmetic procedure. (per Red Cross)
Color refreshing visits should be scheduled a minimum of 6 weeks post procedure. Most procedures are a two-step process. Results cannot be determined until the touch up is completed.
If you experience any itching, swelling, blistering or any other complications post-procedure, stop using the ointment and call your doctor immediately as you may be allergic to the after care product.
Remember all procedures must HEAL, PEEL, and FADE! This process may take up to 10 days.
Color will look MUCH darker for the first 7-10 days as the blood and lymph rise to the surface of the procedure area. After the area heals the color will be softer.
Do not use ANY products that contain AHAs/BHAs, vitamin A, retinol, tretinoin, hydorquinone, glycolics, or similar lightening and peeling products on the procedure area as it will cause fading. Check your product ingredients. Using RevitaLash, Latisse, Lash Boosth, or other hair growing products may lighten the procedure area. Read the ingredients on the back of every bottle of products that you use.
You may use ice packs to relieve swelling in the first 48 hours.
If you have any questions or concerns please notify your permanent makeup artist immediately.
In ADDITION to all General Aftercare please follow these post care instructions:
You may ice for the first 2 days to reduce swelling by lightly resting ice on eyes. Do NOT press into eyes.
Wash eyes the first morning following the procedure with cool water and a mild cleanser. Rinse and lightly pat dry.
Do NOT use mascara, eyeliner, eye shadow, or eyelash curler for 7-10 days post procedure or until healed. Clean all brushes and eyelash curler before resuming use after the procedure area is healed.
Do not rub, scratch or irritate your eyes as you may create a corneal abrasion. Instead rinse eyewash.
Sleep on 2 pillows or in an upward position to alleviate eye area swelling.
If you need to touch your eyes, GENTLY use a clean cotton swab. Touching your eyes with your fingers, unclean cotton swabs, old products or other, may result in an eye infection, corneal abrasion or pink eye.
Do not apply individual lashes or strip eyelashes to the eyelash area until healed.
Do not wear contacts for 24-48 hours while eyes are irritated post procedure. If eyes are irritated beyond 48 hours do not use contacts and contact your physician immediately.
If your eyeball is red or there is puss in the corners contact your doctor immediately.
Lip Aftercare
In ADDITION to all General Aftercare please follow these post care instructions:
If you have ever had a fever blister or cold sore, take an anti-viral medication pre and post procedure to prevent an outbreak of cold sores.
Keep lips moist with A&D ointment or Vaseline for 14 days.
Drink through a straw. Do not eat citrus fruits and juices, greasy, salty, oily or spicy foods until your lips are completely healed.
While eating, do not wipe your lips with a napkin or lick your lips as it will impede the healing process. DO NOT PICK dry healing tissue or it will remove the pigment color.
Be careful when brushing your teeth. Toothpaste may pull the pigment out of the lip. Do not bleach your teeth while your lips are healing.
Adding lidocaine to the A&D ointment will help to soothe the chapped feeling.
Do NOT smoke while lips are healing
Treat your lips gently and with care. No kissing, rubbing or friction until the area is totally healed(typically 7-14 days)
Lips tend to fade approximately 60% temporarily because the color hides for up to 4 weeks before resurfacing due to the healing process
After the initial healing period, apply a total sun block that is waterproof 3-4 times daily to prevent fading.
